The City of Beaufort Home Repair Program is making strong progress since opening its application period earlier this year. A total of 23 applications were received from homeowners seeking critical repairs and improvements to maintain safe, livable homes within the city.

Of those applications, 20 were confirmed to be eligible properties located within the Beaufort city limits. Applications have had third-party income verifications and 40-year title searches—a vital process to confirm ownership and identify any liens or encumbrances that could affect eligibility for funding.

The repair program, administered in partnership with the Beaufort-Jasper Housing Trust (BJHT), focuses on preserving affordable housing and supporting long-term residents. It provides financial assistance for essential home repairs that address health, safety, and accessibility concerns—helping residents stay in their homes and maintain neighborhood stability.

BJHT is currently finalizing detailed scopes of work for each approved home and coordinating with the City of Beaufort for final authorization in accordance with the program guidelines. We anticipate construction activities beginning within the next few weeks.
