The City of Beaufort Home Repair Program is making strong progress since opening its application period earlier this year. A total of 23 applications were received from homeowners seeking critical repairs and improvements to maintain safe, livable homes within the city.
Of those applications, 20 were confirmed to be eligible properties located within the Beaufort city limits. These applications are now undergoing third-party income verification to ensure each applicant meets program guidelines based on household income. Once that step is complete, each eligible property will move forward with a 40-year title search—a vital process to confirm ownership and identify any liens or encumbrances that could affect eligibility for funding.
The repair program, administered in partnership with the Beaufort-Jasper Housing Trust (BJHT), focuses on preserving affordable housing and supporting long-term residents. It provides financial assistance for essential home repairs that address health, safety, and accessibility concerns—helping residents stay in their homes and maintain neighborhood stability.
As this initial round of applications moves through the verification and review process, BJHT and the City look forward to seeing the first homes selected for repair in the months ahead, marking another important step toward improving housing quality for the City’s residents.
