South Carolina Housing’s Small Rental Development Program (SRDP) is now open for applications through June 2, 2025. Three Beaufort County projects have been announced as approved applicants for the SRDP on March 24, 2025.

They are:
Justice Square in downtown Beaufort
Laurel Bay Village on Bay Pines Road
An TBD project by the Gullah Geechee Historic Neighborhoods CDC on Hilton Head Island

At this stage, these applicants have not yet submitted full applications but are now eligible to do so. Unfortunately, no projects in Jasper County were approved to advance to the application phase during this cycle.

This is a highly competitive program. In 2024, only four applications were ultimately submitted statewide, and of those, just two received funding. Being approved to apply is an important first step—but not a guarantee of funding.

Small Rental Development Program supports the creation and rehabilitation of affordable rental housing across South Carolina. Administered by SC Housing, the program leverages funding from sources such as the HOME Investment Partnerships Program, the National Housing Trust Fund, and the SC Housing Trust Fund.
