SC Housing has released its lists of 2025 applications for the state’s competitive 9% Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) and Tax-Exempt Bond (TEB) programs—two of South Carolina’s primary financing tools for affordable and workforce housing development. Unfortunately, no applications were submitted from Beaufort or Jasper counties for the 2025 9% LIHTC round, and only one application was submitted from the region under the TEB program. Unfortunately, that application did not score high enough to receive an award.

These results highlight the continued need for stronger incentives and local partnerships to attract affordable housing investments to the Lowcountry. SC Housing’s LIHTC and TEB programs play a critical role in bridging financing gaps and ensuring that communities across the state—especially coastal regions with rapidly rising costs—remain accessible to the local workforce.
