PROGRAM IN DEVELOPMENT
Preparing for Homeownership
Buying a home is an important step toward long-term financial stability, but being ready for homeownership involves more than qualifying for a mortgage.
BJHT is working with community partners to develop a comprehensive first-time homebuyer education program designed to help prospective buyers understand the entire homebuying process and prepare for the responsibilities that come with owning a home.
Building Confident, Prepared Homeowners
The program is being developed to provide practical information and resources on topics such as:
- Financial literacy and budgeting
- Understanding credit and preparing for a mortgage
- The homebuying and closing process
- Down payment and closing cost considerations
- Understanding taxes, insurance and other ongoing housing expenses
- Routine home maintenance and planning for repairs
- Building financial stability after purchasing a home
Our goal is not simply to help individuals purchase a home. We want to help prepare buyers to successfully own, maintain and remain in their homes for the long term.
Current Program Status
BJHT does not currently have an active first-time homebuyer assistance initiative or open application process.
We are working with local and regional partners to build a coordinated approach that combines homebuyer education, financial preparedness and ongoing homeowner education with potential financial assistance opportunities as funding becomes available.
Please check back for updates as new programs, workshops and resources are developed.
