Beaufort Housing Authority Receives $612,000 for Capital Improvements – Leadership Transition Underway

The Beaufort Housing Authority (BHA) was awarded $611,981.68 through the SC Public Housing Capital Fund Program to address capital improvement needs across approximately 110 public housing units. Funded by SC Housing, the program provided $20.6 million statewide to help modernize aging housing stock. With this support, BHA completed HVAC, roof, and water heater replacements, along with parking lot and interior upgrades — all finalized by September 30, 2025. These improvements strengthen BHA’s ongoing mission to provide safe, quality, and affordable housing for low- and moderate-income residents.

On October 1, 2025, Executive Director Julie Davis resigned from her position following a closed session of the Board of Commissioners. Davis, who had led the agency since May 2024, oversaw the completion of the capital improvements project and several key operational initiatives. The BHA Board has not yet announced a successor but continues to maintain operations through its existing leadership team as it navigates this period of transition.
